President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended the opening ceremonies of sports facilities – the Bagtyyarlyk sports complex and a tennis court at the Ashgabat Stadium, held in the capital of Turkmenistan.
The Chairperson of Mejlis, cabinet ministers, heads of military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, public organisations, the media, Ashgabat Hyakim and representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan took part in the ceremonies. Ceremony participants included numerous sportsmen and students, guests of the capital city and foreign businessmen.
The multi-purpose sports complex that covers an area of over 38,000 square metres is located at the intersection of Azadi Street and Hydyr Deryaev Street. Construction work was performed by the private enterprise Belent Jay at the request of the Ashgabat Hyakimlik.
The sports complex houses the water sports centre with swimming pools, including those for children, and two aqua parks, a football field, tennis courts, gyms and boxing halls, billiard hall, volleyball, basketball and handball courts, two fitness halls and an outdoor playground for team ball games. There is the café, where everyone can taste delicious and healthy food and relax after physical exercises, on the territory of the new sports complex.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Secretary General of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Javad Mottaghi at the Bagtyyarlyk building complex.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his guest exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation in the information and broadcasting sectors.
A focus of discussion was media coverage of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which Ashgabat will be hosting in 2017. It was noted that the 2017 Asian Games would attract a record number of participants due to the participation of countries in Oceania and the inclusion of the new events in the programme. Over a hundred countries – ABU members are expected to broadcast news programmes and reportages from the Turkmen capital for the television and radio audience of more than a billion people in over 60 countries all over the world.
Upon concluding the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his guest expressed belief that fruitful cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union would continue to successfully develop.
On that day, a tennis court at the Ashgabat stadium joined the ranks of sports facilities which would attract more sportsmen and sports lovers and host international competitions.
The general contractor is Asgabatabatlayysgurlusyk Production Association of the Ashgabat Hyakimlik. Construction work was performed by the private enterprise Sport Yyldyzy.
The sports facility, including the central court and the court for training sessions complying with professional standards that will host international competitions, covers a total area of 11,242 square metres. The stands accommodate 560 spectators. The sports complex houses all the necessary infrastructure facilities, such as showers, changing rooms, coaches’ offices and a car park for 80 cars.
Turkmen tennis players represent our country in a worthy manner at international competitions. Recently, our sportsmen have performed successfully at one of the most prestigious competitions – the Davis Cup, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They gained victory over their renowned opponents and qualified for the finals.
Tennis is included in the programme of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will take place in Ashgabat in 2017. The preparation for this important multi-sport event is associated with the opening of the tennis court in the Turkmen capital on that day. The main tennis arena of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games will be the 4,000 capacity tennis court in the Olympic Village.
